Job Description:

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the MST performs specific and varied duties in support of the Registry unit delivery system to aid the general public, health care professionals, certified nurse assistants (CNAs), certified home health aides (HHAs), certified hemodialysis technicians (CHTs) and legislative inquiries and requirements. The incumbent must have good communications and organizational skills while working independently and/or as a team member.


35% Review and respond to a wide variety of complex and sensitive emails from certificate holders, health care administrators/staff, agencies and other members of the public regarding the certification process, criminal clearance, disciplinary action against certifications/licensure, reciprocities, equivalencies and reactivations of CNAs, HHAs and CHTs. Act as liaison for PCB with all incoming emails that require distribution among various section of the branch. Updates policies and procedures related to the LNC mailbox as needed.

25% Assist in the processing of initials, renewals, equivalencies, reciprocities, and reactivations from CNA’s, HHA’s, and CHT’s. Apply knowledge of federal and state regulation requirements and procedures in order to accurately process the applications received.

25% Act as primary liaison with the Criminal Background Section, (CBS) and Investigations Section, (IS) on issues related to criminal record clearance and investigations. Reviews and handles applications with convictions, delay notices, discretionary convictions, court documents, self-disclosed arrests/convictions, reconsiderations and determines the need to process or refer applications to CBS and/or IS. Acts as primary liaison with the CBS and IS on issues related to criminal record clearances and investigations. Refers request for criminal clearance follow up to the CBS and provides updates to Registry staff on status of referral as needed.

10% Assist callers by providing timely and accurate information to applicants, certificate holders, health facility administrators, nursing staff, schools, agencies and public. Participate in taking telephone calls received through the unit’s automatic call distribution center. Apply acquired knowledge of the certification process in order to aid and present accurate information to callers.
