Salary: $2,686.00 - $3,362.00
This is a permanent intermittent position that may become full-time and may work up to 1500 hours per calendar year (January 1 – December 31).

As a regulatory agency, the Air Resources Board possesses quasi-legislative authority to adopt regulations. Within the agency, as a part of the Legal Office, the Board Administration & Regulatory Coordination Unit (BARCU) maintains primary responsibility for the development and maintenance of the administrative and procedural requirements, and preparation of documentation necessary to support the promulgation of regulations. BARCU is primarily responsible for overseeing the administration of Board Hearings and their operations in conformance with regulatory requirements and Board policies and procedures; and ensuring that all Board regulatory activities are in compliance with the requirements of the Administrative Procedure Act.
BARCU is recruiting for a motivated self-starter to join our dynamic team. Under the general supervision of the BARCU Manager, the incumbent will provide administrative support to the two Regulation Coordinators. The successful incumbent will assist to create, maintain, post, and update ARB's regulatory electronic webpages for all Rulemakings which includes the documents from all 45-Day Notice Packages, 15-Day Packages, and Final Rulemaking package documents.
The incumbent will assist Regulation Coordinators with setting up public comment listserves and broadcasts; review and determine the distribution of public comment letters to appropriate rulemaking records; and set-up, compile, maintain, and organize Rulemaking files. The incumbent will also attend monthly Board hearings and assist with the administrative operations in the Board staff support room; assist with Board meeting set-up and preparation; assist in gathering and assembling Board meeting documents for the meeting and make copies as necessary; and travel within the State to attend Board meetings as needed.
The incumbent’s work hours will be set by the Supervisor between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Competitive candidates should have experience working with high-level officials and have a working knowledge and experience with legal documents and processes, be professional and have strong organizational, communication, attention to detail, and excellent computer skills. Candidates should have the ability to work independently and as a team member using good judgment and work cooperatively and effectively with others; ability to communicate effectively; ability to display tact and poise; ability to be proactive and to define logistical problems; ability to act decisively; and the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet short deadlines and last minute changes.
