DUTIES:
The Air Resources Board (ARB) Office of Legislative Affairs is seeking an Associate Governmental Program Analyst to provide analytical support on legislation related to cutting-edge air quality and climate change programs. Under the administrative direction of the Legislative Director and Chief of Staff, the AGPA will: (a) provide strong analytical and policy expertise in support of the Board's legislative program; (b) develop and write analyses for legislation related to ARB's air quality and climate change programs with recommendations for Governor action to the Board Chairman, Secretary of Cal/EPA, and the Governor's Office; (c) provide staff support for Board submittal of mandated reports to the California Legislature; (d) support Board member legislative confirmations; and (e) facilitate exchange of scientific and technical information related to air quality and climate change programs between the Board and the Legislature.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong writing and analytical skills, an ability to translate complex technical issues into layperson's terms, and knowledge of air quality and climate change programs, including AB 32, fuels, advanced vehicle technologies, energy efficiency, and emission inventories. In addition, a successful applicant should be be team-oriented, possess a sense of personal initiative, demonstrate discretion with confidential information, and be able to work independently and meet firm deadlines.
