To be eligible, you must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Department of Human Resources AND either be currently eligible or eligible for reinstatement as a PC 830.2, California State Peace Officer. The reporting location for this position is Red Rock Canyon State Park. This position will work under the supervision of the State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger). The position will be responsible for interpretation, safety and enforcement, employee supervision, visitor center, day use and campground operation, natural resource management, volunteer management, and special events and filming for this park unit. Red Rock Canyon State Park features 27,000 acres of scenic desert cliffs, buttes and spectacular rock formations. The first-come first-served, 50 primitive sites campground is tucked up against the base of dramatic desert cliffs. The park has an OHV road system, hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Programs include guided nature hikes on weekends in the spring and fall and campfire programs on Saturdays. After wet winters, the park’s floral displays are stunning. Red Cliffs and Hagen Canyon Natural Preserve are subunits of this park. There are two vacant positions available. State housing may be available.
