Under the general direction of the Chief, Special Taxes Policy and Compliance Division, the Business Taxes Administrator (BTA) III, Collections and Registration Branch, through subordinate supervisors, plans, directs, controls, organizes, and evaluates the work performed in the Collection section and the Registration and Licensing section. The BTA III directs a staff of approximately 129 positions consisting of a variety of supervisory, compliance, and support personnel. The BTA III plans, develops, and recommends section policy and procedures, and is also responsible for interpreting and applying provisions of the laws and rules administered by the BOE and the policies developed by the BOE, as well as ensuring compliance with BOE tax laws. Additionally, the BTA III will provide functional guidance to the Chief, Special Taxes Policy and Compliance Division, regarding emerging issues impacting the twenty-nine (29) different tax and fee programs administered by the Division. Additionally, the BTA III will oversee the first level hearings conducted within the Cigarette and Tobacco Products Licensing program.
