The California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) is seeking a motivated individual for an exciting career as a STAFF SERVICES MANAGER II (SPECIALIST). Statement of Qualification (SOQ) Required

A statement of qualification is required for this position. Please submit an original signed state application (Std. 678), resume and SOQ. Resumes DO NOT take the place of the SOQ.

The SOQ is a narrative discussion of how the candidate's education, training, experience, and skills have prepared that person for the position. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing, and it should be typed, double-spaced, and no more than three pages in length.

Your SOQ will be evaluated for experience in the following areas:

  • Fluency with financial markets and trends.
  • Understanding of complex investment products and services.
  • Knowledge of contract law and state contracting policies.
  • Managing business needs of cross-functional teams to provide solutions and recommendations.
  • Consulting, negotiation, and effective communication skills.
  • Experience with SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Management systems.

Note:
(1) Prior to employment with CalSTRS, a background investigation (BI) will be conducted. The BI consists of a Personal History Statement and fingerprinting through the Department of Justice. The BI will check criminal and civil records and, if applicable, verify education and check driving records.
