Duties: SCC is a public safety
answering point. Employees answer 9-1-1, public, allied agency, and 1-800-TELL-CHP
telephone lines as well as making outgoing calls to service providers, allied
agencies and citizens. PSD’s provide radio dispatching services to seven CHP Offices.
PSD’S must document information in a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System
accurately, quickly and take the appropriate action on each call. This
classification requires a net typing speed of 40 words per minute. Employees
work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. They are required to
work overtime as needed. They must consistently report to work on time with a
minimum of absences.
Persons currently in the Public Safety Dispatcher classification who are
eligible to transfer, should submit a CHP 220, Request for Transfer, to the
contact person below. The most senior same-class transfer who responds by
the final filing date shall be selected. Persons eligible to apply must be on a
certification list, eligible to transfer, voluntarily demote, reinstate, or be
on an SROA list or designated Surplus. All applicants will be considered;
only the most qualified will be interviewed.
