Under direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks in connection with the analysis, development, procurement, and support of electronic information processing systems, multi-function automated office systems, and microcomputer systems. The activities performed are primarily in support of the Department’s standard desktop computing systems, with emphasis on software licensing, tracking, and procurement. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Customer/Technical Support – Provide customer support, guidance and information to Department employees in response to software licensing inquiries. Assist in maintaining the Technical Support Center automated asset and call tracking/reporting system.
Software Management – Assist in the coordination of procuring software. Maintain and oversee the management of software licensing for the Department of Education. Verify, approve and track the usage and movement of licenses.
Analytical – Using statistical analytical, and system development life cycle methodologies, track and compile data on the asset auditing tracking system relative to performance diagnostics and usage.
Telecommunications Support – Provide back-up support for the Department’s telecommunications system and services, wireless voice communications and the voice and data telecommunications infrastructure for the Department.
Team Projects – Work with other units in the division to provide technical expertise and resolve problems within the desktop personal computer and Office Automation environment specifically with regard to software licensing.
