This position requires the incumbent maintain consistent and regular attendance,

Under the general supervision of the Environments Administration Supervisor (SSS III Supervisor), the Systems Software Specialist II (Technical) [SSS II] works with the Environments team to support the daily operations of the middleware software environments for the Child Support Enforcement (CSE) System. The incumbent coordinates with the Release Manager and Development Teams to determine priorities, schedule new software upgrades and to support the operational service of the system administration, development, system test, performance test and production environments, works closely with the configuration management team members and system administrators to plan and execute production environment enhancements, upgrades and maintenance, serves as the subject matter expert on many middleware software support activities, creates and reviews scripts developed to support software the environment system software, participation in and oversight of the projects operational service principals and software delivery standards, and performing complex analytical studies of the CSE project delivery methods and identifying and recommending solutions to meet the software deployment schedule. The SSS II reviews and analyzes change requests to determine the scope of work and estimate the level of effort and writes technical specifications, identifies and resolves the most complex problems, coordinates and ensures accurate problem definition and resolution, assists in development and improvement of plans, processes, procedures, standards and priorities, creates and maintains reports on the status of technical issues and activities, maintains direct knowledge of and applies all relevant technical processes, procedures, and quality standards. The incumbent is responsible for providing strategic direction to DCSS Technology Services Division Management in prioritizing the most complex system projects and achieving the best use of available hardware and software resources. The SSS II conducts business activities in a professional manner that leads to superior customer satisfaction and delivers services that meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.
Performs as a Technical Systems Architect of the Environments Administration with responsibility as a team leader for supporting the daily operational services of the system administration, development, system test, performance test and production environments and middleware software for the CSE System, supports Websphere Application Server (WAS), coordinates with the Release Manager and Development Teams to determine priorities, schedule new software installs and upgrades to all environments.
Works closely with Environments Unit staff and Department of Technology Data Center administrators as a high-level technical specialist to plan and execute production environment enhancements, upgrades and maintenance, supports all the middleware installed on for the CSE system, serves as the subject matter expert on many operational service activities, proposes process improvements and additions as needed, creates and reviews scripts developed to support software code builds and deployment.
Assists in development and improvement of plans, processes, procedures, standards and priorities, creates and maintains reports on the status of technical issues and activities, maintains direct knowledge of and applies all relevant technical processes, procedures, and quality standards, and reviews and analyzes change requests to determine the scope of work and estimate the level of effort and writes technical specifications. Participation in department wide teams evaluating Change Requests and Impact Analysis Packages proposing system changes as they relate to the delivery of CSE System software through the project software delivery standards.
