The reporting location for this position is the Sonoma Barracks Curation Office. This position will work under the direction of the Museum Curator I. This position will work in the historic units of Sonoma State Historic Park as well as several hours per month at the Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park. It will include further assisting of the Museum Curator I at other museum facilities in the District as well. The Museum Technician will perform tasks to accomplish the care, preservation, record keeping, and general maintenance of the collections and historic museum facilities. Museum housekeeping and care of equipment and supplies will be required. The Museum Technician may act as lead for museum custodian, park aid, interns and volunteers. Knowledge of conservation principles, artifact care and handling, packing techniques, and computer databases for collections management will be required. Additional knowledge of conservation environments, integrated pest management, objects cataloging and inventories, digital photography, and research skills are desirable. This position may be downgraded for recruitment purposes. State housing is not available.
