The reporting location for this position is Lake Perris State Recreation Area (SRA). This position will work under the direction of the Sector Superintendent. The State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger) is part of a team with another Supervising Ranger and Supervising Lifeguard that will supervise a patrol staff of 14 sworn Peace Officers and at times up to 40 additional seasonal employees. This is a very diverse assignment full of challenges ranging from a high frequency of law enforcement calls for service, managing our Quagga Mussel inspection program, and fulfilling our Department’s goals of making urban connections and enriching the lives of the underprivileged with interpretation, outreach and partnerships. As a Supervisor this position will have four patrol areas including Lake Perris SRA, Wildwood Canyon State Park, San Timoteo Property and also Diamond Valley Reservoir that the Perris Sector operates under contract with Metropolitan Water District. The District operates on a 4-10 schedule year round and shifts in the summer months end at 0300 hours to manage the State’s largest campground. This position is one of the more challenging State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger) positions in the system and the person selected to fill this position will gain experience that many other locations cannot offer.
