Job Description:

DUTIES:  Under the direction of the facilities sergeant and overall direction by the administrative lieutenant, the maintenance worker is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on the Area office and surrounding grounds;  keeping fueling station clear of hazardous conditions; making minor indoor/outdoor facility repairs , and touch-up painting as needed;  sweep/clean sidewalks and parking areas; irrigating and cultivating as necessary to maintain office landscaping and indoor plants; replacing inoperative indoor/outdoor light bulbs; cleaning ceilings and air ducts when necessary; reporting any facility repairs and maintenance needed beyond his/hers abilities; emptying trash receptacles; organizing CHP handouts located in the front lobby area; clean/dusting light fixtures when necessary; cleaning walls of marks, dirt, and foreign objects; clean/dusting blinds as necessary; cleaning windows as necessary; sanitizing restroom/locker rooms; cleaning kitchen and surface of vending machines, and assisting the Auto Tech II on a limited basis.

WHO MAY APPLY:  Persons currently in the classification eligible to transfer, lateral transfers, voluntary demotions, reinstatements, those eligible for appointment from a certification list, and employees on a State Restriction of Appointments (SROA) list or designated Surplus.  All applicants will be considered; only the most qualified will be interviewed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Possession of a driver license valid California for the operation of any two-axle single motor vehicle and one towed vehicle,  either one year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Service Assistant (Automotive), or one year of experience performing the duties of a Janitor in a California Highway Patrol Area office or substation, or one year of experience in one or a combination of the following: working in a shop of an automotive agency or garage, or servicing  automobiles, in another type of vehicle repair facility including the removal and replacement of tires, batteries, and accessories.
