JOB DESCRIPTION : Under the general administration of the Section Manager (Senior Telecommunication Engineer) and supervision of the Section Supervisor (Systems Software Specialist III Supervisor), the incumbent acts as a journey level technical specialist on the complex mainframe systems software/hardware assignments and also acts as a backup to complex mainframe systems software/hardware assignments. Major duties will include, performing complex installation, maintenance of software/hardware products to the operational needs of the Franchise Tax Board. Also work as a member of a team to inform management and communicate with each other on activities, problems, plans and changes. Follow the department’s ITIL procedures and guidelines.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS :
Installation and customization of IBM and non-IBM software products that run on the z/OS operating system.
Willingness and ability to learn new concepts and technologies.
Ability to multitask with minimal direction and little direct supervision while maintaining excellent customer service.
Ability to work collaboratively with management, peers and subordinates.
Knowledge of ITIL and Project Management Principles.
Experience with z/OS Mainframe systems operation and ISV products experience such Compuware and Computer Associate.
Experience with Adabas, CICS, COBOL, DCDIII, DB2, FileAid, Finalist, IPL, ISPW, Parmlib, Quick Reference, SAR, SAS, SDSF and Syncsort.
Experience in UNIX Systems Services (USS) under z/OS.
Experience in configuring, troubleshooting, analyzing and diagnosing computer software/hardware issues.
Knowledge of computer programming techniques and the software development life cycle.
