JOB DESCRIPTION : Under the general direction of the Systems Software Specialist III, Supervisor, External Web and Contact Services Section (EWCSS); the Associate Web Application Developer will be responsible for systems support of the Franchise Tax Board’s Internet applications. In carrying out the duties of this position, the Web Application Developer designs and develops complex web applications, participates with other programming resources on large/complex application projects, provides technical analysis to business staff to design technical solutions for business problems, and identifies, recommends, and implements application maintenance checks to ensure continued operation of the external services of the department's website.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience developing complex web applications.
Knowledge and experience developing .Net applications using the C# or VB.Net programming languages.
Understanding of the usage of web services including experience with XML.
IT analytical skills – ability to translate business problems into IT solutions.
Good interpersonal skills for interacting with business and technical staff at all levels within the department.
Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines during peak periods, including a willingness to support an environment that is operational 24 x 7 x 365.
Good technical writing skills.
Knowledge of FTB’s business systems.
Knowledge of FTB's Internet (ECOM) environment in terms of design, scalability and redundancy.
Knowledge of Host Intrusion Detection and other security protocols.
Experience writing applications that meet strict security and capacity guidelines.
