The Nutrition Services Division is looking for an effective Staff Services Manager II (SSM II) to oversee the Food Distribution Program (FDP). The FDP staff work closely together to ensure statewide distribution of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foods to participating food program sponsors.
The SSM II is responsible for the administration and oversight of the FDP and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program. The FDP includes ordering, warehousing, distributing, managing, and tracking for over $130 million in USDA Foods and approximately $5.5 million in operational expenditures. The FDP SSM ll functions as a full supervisor for a large, highly specialized and technical program and oversees the work products of over 65 permanent and temporary staff working in Pomona and Sacramento. The SSM II is responsible for providing direction for business management, warehousing, and distribution services for school districts located throughout California and develops new programs to increase revenues and reduce expenditures.
Interpersonal and communication skills
Business operation knowledge, education, skill, and/or experience
Success and experience as a supervisor or manager
Knowledge of and experience with nutrition programs
Warehouse experience a plus
