The reporting location for this position is the District Office located in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. This position will work under the direction of the District Superintendent. This position oversees the District Maintenance Auto Shop and District heavy equipment program. The position is responsible for the oversight of the District-wide maintenance programs. The District Chief will provide both support and mentoring for Maintenance Supervisors in the Sectors. The position may also temporarily oversee the maintenance functions of Old Town San Diego and San Pasqual Battlefield until a Park Maintenance Supervisor position is created and filled. The Park Maintenance Chief III may be assigned to other sectors on a temporary basis in order to meet overall District operating needs. The District Maintenance Chief needs to have broad knowledge that allows them to provide leadership and initiative for facility and equipment management and extremely busy and significant recreational, historic and natural parks. Public transportation is available directly to the District Office from many parts of the San Diego area. State housing is available.
