Job Description:


This is a Limited Term Intermittent position and may work at a maximum of 1500 hours per calendar year. This position may become Permanent Intermittent in the future.

Assist the Health and Safety and Training Units with maintenance of various program files and records. Programs include but are not limited to Training Request Database, Toxic Exposure Records, Vehicle Accident Reporting and recordkeeping, Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Employer Pull Notice Program (EPN), Injury and Illness Reporting and Ergonomic Assessment Program. Generate program related reports and responds to general program related questions and requests for information via telephone, and email; prepares the less complex written responses and creates and revises forms.

Assists Health and Safety Program staff with Health and Safety inspections of Cal/EPA Headquarters Building, El Monte facilities and other Air Resources Board (ARB) facilities and worksites; tracks correction of identified health and safety and State Fire Marshall identified violations and other unsafe working conditions; generates reports as requested by management. Serves as point of contact for reporting of ARB vehicle accidents and ensures timely reporting to the Department of General Services (DGS); maintains vehicle accident records, logs and reports; reviews employee DMV Employer Pull Notice records to determine good diriver status and flags records with multiple points or major violations for review by Health and Safety Officer; conducts less difficult/complex ergonomic workstation evaluations and prepares reports of findings.

Assists in the development and review of Annual Division Training Plans and in the development of the Annual ARB Training Plan; assists in the development of contracts, service agreements, interagency agreements and purchase orders for Training and Health and Safety Program services (i.e., hearing tests, respirator fit testing, drug testing, etc.); responsible for entry and maintenance of automated training records, produces training reports and provides employee training history as needed; provides support to staff in scheduling, logistics and preparation of materials for meetings and training classes.

Performs research, gathers information and assists in analyzing of various programs, projects and in the development of alternatives and recommendations. Responds to general Training and Health and Safety Program related inquiries/questions via telephone email and prepares less complex correspondence regarding Training and Health and Safety Programs and services; develops and revises program related forms, Administrative Services Letters, policies and procedures and prepares information notices for posting to the ARBInside (INTRAnet).

Assists the ARB Conflict of Interest Filing officer with preparation of the pre-notification package for distribution by Division Liaisons to designated employees in preparation for Annual Filing of Statement of Economics Interests. Assists in the maintenance of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Orientation Database and responds to requests for Conflict of Interest records.


  • Excellent communication and writing skills;
  • Experience with Access Databases, Word, Excel;
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and exercise sound judgment that maintain effective and cooperative working relationships;

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to logically plan, prioritize and organize work.
