Job Description:
Under general supervision of the Supervising Tax Auditor II, the Business Taxes Specialist I (BTS I) independently performs the most difficult and complex audit functions including field audits with other State and Federal agencies. The BTS I will analyze complex business records, correspond, and discuss the application of tax & fee programs for both BOE and IRS with taxpayers, attorneys, accountants, and staff. The BTS I will plan and train both IRS and BOE staff for performing joint audits. The BTS I will act as lead auditor over both IRS and BOE staff. The BTS I will be responsible for planning, selecting and performing joint audits for both IRS and BOE auditors. In addition, the BTS I will develop anomalies used to develop audit leads received from the JOC. The position will require up to 50% travel, both in state and out-of-state, including overnight travel. The position is located in a high-rise building. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority. The position may become permanent if permanent funding is approved.
