Under the general supervision of the Visiting Lieutenant, the Office Services Supervisor I (General) is responsible for training, planning, organizing, and direct supervision of subordinate clerical staff in the operation of the Mail Room.Assign, review, and direct the work of an Office Technician and Office Assistants, as well as functional direction of modified duty staff when assigned. Train subordinate staff, evaluate and prepare performance evaluations, review attendance reports, maintaining annual attendance calendars.Ensures all mail is being processed in accordance with the California code of Regulations, Title 15, the Department Operations Manual, and Operational Procedure 17. Read and be up-to-date on all memoranda and policies concerning the handling of regular and legal correspondence. Update mailroom internal procedures in compliance with departmental procedures.Audit mail procedures to ensure breaches of security do not result during the processing of inmate mail.Prepare responses to inmates pertaining to inquiries and appeals, or other related correspondence from staff and the public.Other duties as required, including attending a minimum of 40 hours of In-Service Training as a condition of CDC employment. Checks to see that DDPS terminals are up and all facilities have delivered their mailbags and complete tool control logs.
