Under general supervision of the Supervising Tax Auditor (STA) III, the Business Taxes Specialist (BTS) I is responsible for reviewing and processing audit reports and field billing orders performed by the district’s audit staff. The incumbent’s physical location in the district office requires exercising considerable tact, technical competence, and interpersonal skills to gain the cooperation of the audit staff and audit evaluation staff. The BTS I also communicates with the Evaluation Team located in Headquarters regarding problems and trends found during on-going evaluations of the district’s audit reports, and performs other duties as necessary, including the training of new reviewers and coordinating with audit control. This position may rotate into a field audit position after 12-24 months. Meeting the training requirements for this position may require overnight travel for up to five consecutive nights. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
