Under the direction of the Data Processing Manager II, within the Personal Income Tax (PIT) Systems Testing Section, the incumbent is responsible for performing analysis on various processes that validate, modify and record personal income tax data. The incumbent is responsible for defining and testing technical solutions for various types of tax law changes and business needs. Responsibilities include: creating system requirements, test methodologies, test matrices, program specifications, analyzing data for inconsistencies and recommending solutions to resolve system performance issues. In addition the incumbent utilizes Job Control Language (JCL) to simulate batch processes and executes on-line transactions in a test environment.

  • Experience working with Franchise Tax Board PIT processing systems.
  • Experience working with Information Technology workloads.
  • Experience working with tax return processing and tax accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of the mainframe environment (input/output datasets, JCL, Batch, On-lines, etc.).
  • System testing experience.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules.
  • Knowledge of PIT Processes & Law, including tax return processing, and basic accounting principles.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to maintain effectiveness with changing priorities.
  • Ability and willingness to support Annual Change work schedules (generally September through December).

Current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. A training and development assignment (T & D) may also be considered. All appointments are subject to SROA/Surplus hiring provisions.
