JOB DESCRIPTION : Under the general direction of the Administrator I – Fiscal Services, the Accountant Trainee performs professional accounting duties in the establishment and maintenance of accounts and financial records for the Franchise Tax Board. Typical duties include maintaining the cash receipts general ledger, allocating receipts to the appropriate fund, and researching and resolving account discrepancies.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Ability to apply General and State Fund accounting principles and procedures.
Familiarity with CALSTARS.
Ability to use MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Access).
Analyze data and draw sound conclusions.
Follow prescribed procedures, complete tasks, and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to get along with others in a team environment.
Maintain flexibility and adapt to changing priorities.
Excellent attendance, organization, and communication skills (written and oral).
Ability to work well independently.
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
