This position is in Sacramento. Under the general direction of the Business Taxes Administrator (BTA) II, the BTA I is responsible for the implementation of the internship/student assistant program for this office. As part of this new program the BTA I develops, trains, coordinates and monitor the work of the Student Assistants (SA) and Graduate Student Assistants (GSA). The BTA I is also responsible for a variety of compliance, audit and administrative functions. The BTA I manages and controls vital day-to-day operational functions which include: reception, registration, outreach, advisory, clearances, security cashiering, return preparations/e-filing, delinquencies and permit revocations, collections, administrative activities relative to enforcing applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and overall office administration and support. As part of these operational functions, the BTA I conducts or directs staff, including the SA and GSA, to conduct other functions, including investigations, analysis and evaluations of taxpayer-provided documents, books and records, and financial documents. The incumbent integrates and applies practices, policies and procedures across both compliance and audit functions. The BTA I also has the responsibility to motivate staff and monitor their performance. Meeting the training requirements for this position may require overnight travel for up to five consecutive nights. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted.
