Job Description: PLEASE NOTE:There are multiple positions available in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Oakland and surrounding cities. Preference is given to persons up to 26 years old who are or have been dependent children in foster care. THIS IS A LIMITED TERM POSITION A STUDENT ASSISTANT CAN WORK NO MORE THAN 1500 HOURS IN A 12 CONSECUTIVE MONTH PERIOD.

Under the general supervision of the Regional Manager and lead of the Region’s professional staff, a Student Assistant will be exposed to didactic experiences and will accompany Cal/OSHA Compliance Officers on a variety of workplace inspections, specifically:
Compliance Procedure: Review and study of DOSH Policy and
Procedures; accompany compliance personnel on health inspections; correlation of written law, regulation and policy with field procedures; study and assist in preparation of compliance reports; attend the Occupational Safety and Health Appeals Board hearings as an observer as appropriate.
Introduction to the Division: Orientation to the DOSH; review of DOSH compliance structure; review and study of Labor Code enablement; review and study of 8CCR administrative regulations
concerning DOSH; review and study 8CCR safety and health regulations.
Questions, Feedback Critique: Intern will be encouraged to question, verbally or in written form, any subject or aspect of compliance procedure; intern will be required to relate any correlation or conflict between her educational information and actual field and office application; intern will be required to critique or discuss, in written form, the advantages or disadvantages of her internship to provide valuable information in dealing with future internships.
Other duties as appropriate.
