Under the general direction of the section manager, Enterprise Open Systems Management & Services Support Section, the incumbent performs all managerial duties for the Open Systems Backup and Telecom CTI & MAC Support teams. The incumbent manages more complex Open Systems Backup and Telecommunication hardware and software systems. These managerial responsibilities include exceptional knowledge in architecture and design of Open Systems enterprise backup and telecommunication solutions and demonstrated mastery experience with Enterprise Tape Library (ETL) and Telecom PBX Systems including capacity, performance tuning, disaster recovery and strategic/operational planning.


  • Knowledge of Open Systems Backup and Telecomunication, PBX, Voice Mail, and VOIP.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to inspire, motivate, mentor and build teams.
  • Knowledge & understanding of the IT Strategic Plan.
  • Ability to be on call outside of regular business hours.
  • Experience working in a fast paced environmnet with competing deadlies & priorities.
  • Skill to negotiate mutually acceptable solutions.
  • Demonstrated positive and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn new workloads and apply knowledge and experience to new situations.
  • Experience in creating an environmnet of trust and positive working relationships.

Current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. A training and development assignment (T & D) may also be considered. All appointments are subject to SROA/Surplus hiring provisions.
