The Board of Equalization (BOE) is looking for a motivated individual with an extremely strong technical background plus experience and knowledge of Information Security. This position requires the incumbent to have knowledge of network and host-based security strategies and methodologies, incident response, and extensive knowledge of operating systems, networking protocols, LAN/WAN/MAN, routing protocols, firewall configurations, system development life cycle, intrusion detection/protection, active content, malware, defense in depth, OWASP and separation of duties. The position requires the incumbent to have superior written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated experience in working with large teams.
Under the guidance of the Manager, Information Security Office, the incumbent will be the subject matter expert, providing technical assistance by evaluating and/or incorporating security requirements to security technologies, vulnerability scans, and network integration activities within the BOE. As such, the incumbent will ensure required security controls are designed and implemented within the BOE’s systems. Other responsibilities for this position include planning, selection, and testing security software/hardware products that support the BOE’s local and remote technical environments. Acts as a team leader in coordinating the efforts of a task force of organizational and/or industry representatives, analyzes and prepares security incident reports. Current Information Security (CISSP, GIAC or CISM) certification is desirable. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
