District Office Public Counter: Positions exist in the San Francisco & Oakland Field Offices. Under the general direction of the Administrator I, the incumbent will be responsible for two workloads. First, the incumbent will maintain an inventory of accounts to take collection action and make outgoing calls to taxpayers and third parties. Second, the incumbent will assist customers at the public counter pertaining to the collection and resolution of complex and sensitive Personal Income Tax and Business Entity accounts. The incumbent must be able to work well under stress, analyze documents thoroughly, explain applicable tax laws to taxpayers, and apply appropriate collection remedies to accounts. The incumbent is required to actively work towards creating a strong team environment. Successful candidates must possess the ability to deal with irate or difficult taxpayers. The incumbent will effectively communicate with others and conduct his/herself in a professional manner at all times. The incumbent is also expected to demonstrate a high degree of initiative, prudence, and analytical ability, verbal as well as written communication skills, and be independent in making judgment decisions. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing the highest quality customer service to our internal and external customers.
Position requires incumbent to work 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge of the PC, including Excel and Word applications.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to effectively deal with the public and establish and maintain positive working relationships.
Ability to handle changing priorities and work under pressure.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Willingness to adjust work schedule to meet operational needs

Bilingual (Fluent in Spanish)
