Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION :
Under the general direction of the Chief Technologist, Planning, the incumbent serves as the FTB’s Chief Enterprise Architect responsible for all aspects of Enterprise Architecture (EA). The Chief Architect serves as a key advisor to FTB’s executive staff and staff throughout the enterprise in the development, communication and implementation of the Enterprise Architecture. Has a leadership role in evolving and expanding the role of EA in the decision-making processes of the department. Guides, mentors and coaches architects responsible for architecture analysis, design, planning, education, governance, and implementation. Represents the FTB in technology and architecture discussions at a statewide level to support alignment and integration with the State’s enterprise architecture. Work is performed within the framework of the enterprise mission and values and in alignment with the State and FTB strategic plans with objectives of improving enterprise process effectiveness and efficiency.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Principles, practices, and trends of public administration, including management, organization, planning, cost/benefit analysis, budgeting, and project management and evaluation.
  • Current computer industry technology and practices.
  • Principles of data processing systems design, programming, operations, and controls.
  • State level policies and procedures relating to Information Technology.
  • Principles of the governmental functions and organizations at the State level, including the legislative process.
  • Demonstrated leadership in thinking tactically and strategically to align enterprise architecture with business strategy and goals, introducing innovation, and developing information technology solutions and services that meet the organization’s business needs and fit into the enterprise architecture.

Current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. A training and development assignment (T & D) may also be considered. All appointments are subject to SROA/Surplus hiring provisions.   • Provide a specific example of deciding on and building support for a solution. When multiple participants in developing a solution had conflicting ideas, how did you decide on a solution? How did you get all members to agree to support the solution?
    • What was the situation?
    • What did you do?
    • What was the outcome?

  • For each question, also include the following:
    • Employer’s name

    • How long you held the position
    • Name of a supervisor/manager who can verify the information
