The reporting location for this position is the Lake Oroville Sector, located in Oroville. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger). The Lake Oroville Sector is located in Butte County. Lake Oroville State Recreation Area (LOSRA) includes two large marinas with over 1,200 vessels moored on the lake, three campgrounds and 12 day use areas with boat ramps. Duties include full responsibilities and scope of a State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) including visitor and resource protection, campground and boating operations, public safety, interpretation, administration, and volunteer management. Staff work closely with maintenance and interpretive staff concessionaires and local law enforcement agencies and such as the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Water Resources, and Cal Fire. This position is for a canine officer. The canine team will be crossed trained in explosives detection. This position is pending Executive Personnel Review Committee approval.
