This is a two year limited term position which may become permanent if funding is approved and/or workload is permanently established. Under the general direction of the Chief Accounting Officer (Accounting Administrator III), the Accounting Administrator I – Specialist serves as a staff specialist responsible for the evaluation of complex fiscal activities having impact on accounting operations, policies and procedures. The incumbent represents the accounting branch in higher level discussions and projects related to statewide and board-wide fiscal activities; evaluates all activities including the effect of accounting systems on fiscal activities and reporting requirements, represents BOE for high-level, complex, critical, enterprise-wide financial management projects such as Fi$CAL, MyCalPays, CalATERS Global and Dell Refund Project. Communicates and maintains effective working relationships with BOE management, control agencies, the Budget Branch, Administrative Support Division and the Technology Services Division. The incumbent is responsible for revisions of the accounting procedure manuals; distributing expenditure reports to BOE departments, maintaining the Cost Code Tables in the BOE Paris Database and identifying the effect on fiscal activities, analyzing and maintaining accounting records, special projects, and other related duties as required. The position is located in a high-rise building. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
Educational requirements: Completion of the equivalent of 45 semester units given by a collegiate-grade residence or correspondence institution, of which 24 units must include courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate/advanced accounting, fund/governmental accounting, cost accounting, auditing, business law, computer applications/management information systems.
