Under the general direction with little day-to-day supervision of the Business Taxes Compliance Supervisor II, the Tax Technician III exercises a high level of initiative and judgment; in serving as an expert staff resource responsible for the most difficult and complex technical work. The incumbent must have working knowledge of the return review, accounts receivable and delinquency control process since they will be responsible for independently reviewing account files, correspondence and documents and determining the appropriate actions to be taken. Additionally, the incumbent will answer telephone calls and correspondence regarding the Special Taxes and Fees Division's tax programs’ policies and procedures. The incumbent will be responsible for contacting licensees and taxpayers regarding low balance collectible liabilities and delinquent tax returns. The incumbent will receive additional compensation each month for public contact through the telephone per Pay Differential #186.
The position is located in a high-rise building. The incumbent will receive an additional $100.00 per month pay differential. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
