Under the functional supervision of a Supervising Tax Auditor II, this position reviews and analyzes complex and sensitive audits and other determined liabilities under appeal; prepares the departmental Summary Analysis report for use throughout the remainder of the appeals process; and other appeal process related correspondence. The position requires comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Sales and Use Tax Law, related regulations, audit methodologies, and administrative policies. Candidates must possess extensive experience in analyzing and evaluating complex audits. Excellent oral and written communications skills are required. Candidates should also have a demonstrated history of the ability to successfully work in an environment where time constraints were limited and assignments/priorities were subject to redirection. Ideal candidates will also have the willingness and aptitude to work within a digital (paperless) environment, and be adaptable to forthcoming BOE legacy system enhancements. The position is located in a high-rise building.

This statement should cite specific examples demonstrating experience in conducting, reviewing, and/or processing sales and use tax field audits, as well as work experience within the appeals process.
2) 2 samples of recent reports or correspondence you prepared that demonstrate your best written communication effort.
3) Interested candidates may also participate in a timed exercise that will include a review of a sales and use tax audit, followed by a written demonstration of your understanding, analysis, and findings as result of your review.
