This is a two year limited term position which may become permanent if funding is approved and/or workload is permanently established. Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist) independently performs the more difficult professional accounting work in the researching, analyzing, monitoring, establishing, and maintaining of accounts and financial records in the General Fund and Vendor Services Unit. Provides accounting expertise on complex accounting issues relating to contracts, purchase orders, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Meets with various Board units and management to facilitate the work between various offices. Considerable contact is made with Board management, the Budget Section, the Contracts and Procurement Section, the Business Services Section, the Cashier Section, the State Controller’s Office, the Department of General Services and Board employees. Performs other accounting-related duties as required. Knowledge of computer software programs, good communication, interpersonal, analytical, and customer service skills required. The position is located in a high-rise building. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
Educational requirements: Equivalent to graduation from college, with specialization in accounting or completion of the equivalent of 19 semester hours of course work including elementary and advanced accounting, auditing, cost accounting, and business law.
