The reporting location for this position is Headquarters in Sacramento. This position will work under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I of the Telecommunications Unit. The incumbent will have various responsibilities in the Telecommunications Unit. This position will work with the Telecommunications Unit with the coordination of repairs and installations for all Headquarters and state wide office telephone systems. This position will also require occasional physical exertion, including bending, overhead reaching, lifting (up to 25 lbs.) twisting and other movements associated with the physical move and removal process of telephone systems, cabling and equipment. Local and overnight travel will be required statewide, at times on short notice. The incumbent will be responsible for the more difficult and complex analytical functions associated with planning telecommunications services for new, remodeled and existing buildings. Acting as a lead project manager, the incumbent will work with telephone company engineers, contractors, department Service Centers and District personnel. Adheres to telecommunications specifications, system plans and designing cabling routes for buildings will also be a major function of this position. Basic knowledge of telecommunications planning, terms, cabling, and infrastructure are beneficial. Auditing of Headquarters telephone bills and maintaining a billing database will be required. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Access software programs are also essential. Knowledge of CAL-Card visa, purchase orders (Std. 65), and CMAS contracts are also beneficial.
