The reporting location for this position is Cuyamaca Rancho State Park located in Descanso. This position will work under the direction of the District Superintendent. This position is the Park Superintendent for the Montane Sector and oversees the operations and planning for Cuyamaca Rancho and Palomar Mountain State Parks. The varied operation requires extensive interface with the community, and with nearly 300 active volunteers. The park is still in recovery since the Cedar Fire of 2003 and is conducting a 2,500 forest restoration project and updating its General Plan. Critical issues include the management of exquisite natural and cultural resources in nearly 28,000 acres of parkland; working closely with other groups with facilities within the parks (CAL FIRE, Boy Scouts, City and County School Camps); and maintaining good working relationships with a variety of public and private partners. Basic firefighting training is beneficial. This position offers the opportunity to be involved with all growing and vibrant cooperating associations. State housing may be available.
