***This is a Peace Officer Position. To be eligible, you must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Department of Human Resources AND either be currently eligible or eligible for reinstatement as a PC 830.2, California State Peace Officer. The reporting location for this position is the District Office in Pismo Beach. This position will work under the direction of the District Superintendent. This position serves as Chief Ranger and acts as the direct supervisor for the four State Park Peace Officer Supervisor positions and one Interpreter I position in a high use, active, and politicized District. The incumbent will assume overall responsibility for the visitor services program field operations, including the visitor services, OE&E, and temporary help budgets. Duties include leading/coordinating roles in public safety, program management, District issued permits and interagency agreements, liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services agencies, and the District Public Information Officer responsible for the District’s media responses with Headquarters and Public Relations Office. The incumbent will represent the District at various local agency and organization meetings and public hearings. The position may act as the interim District Superintendent’s liaison to the administrative services, maintenance services, and resource management services programs, acts as the District’s public safety officer, and may approve or deny release of public safety reports and accident reports. The position makes presentations to various groups, clubs and organizations related to the District’s resource management program, and serves on various committees and task forces as well as assisting with outreach, marketing, and informational tours with public officials. This position is pending Personnel Office and Executive Personnel Review Committee approval. State housing is not available.
