Under the general direction of the Supervising Tax Counsel and the lead of the Tax Counsel IV, a Tax Counsel in the Property Tax Section of the Tax and Fee Programs Division provides legal services to the Board and Board staff with respect to property tax matters, performing legal work of the least to moderate difficulty, including, but not limited to: conduct research; draft legal opinions; answer oral and written inquiries from the Department staff, the Board, other governmental entities, and the public; appear at hearings of the Board; draft or assist in drafting legislation and regulations; and assist in the preparation of various Board publications. The Tax Counsel III, Specialist will handle the more complex and difficult workload. Knowledge of welfare exemptions and Organization Clearance Certificates and/or knowledge of Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3) organizations preferable.
