Job Description:

In the Office of Local Assistance, under the general supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer, the Transportation Engineer (Civil) serves in the capacity of an Area Engineer. The Area Engineer is responsible for assisting cities, counties, congestion management agencies, regional transportation planning agency and other local agencies in all aspects of project development and project implementation including securing of financing for projects from various State and Federal programs. The Area Engineer maintains good knowledge of the federal aid process and the various federal and state programs in order to assist local agency staff in preparing applications needed to obtain funding and in understanding the federal aid process. the Area Engineer interacts with outside agencies as well as departmental functional units. This requires a person who possesses good oral and written communication skills.
