The reporting location for this position is Headquarters located in Sacramento. This position will work under the direction of the Accounting Administrator I, Supervisor. The Accounting Officer (Specialist) performs professional accounting work in analyzing and reviewing all source documents to be encumbered. The incumbent will also be trained on utilizing both the Fiscal Tracking System and CALSTARS to determine allotments of various funds and districts.
Candidate should have general accounting skills, analytical skills and be able to complete tasks and meet deadlines. The incumbent should have excellent attendance, organization and communication skills (written and oral). Knowledge of automated accounting systems, Microsoft Office, and PC experience is required. CALSTARS experience is desired.

Current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. All appointments are subject to SROA/Surplus hiring provisions.
