The reporting location for this position is at Headquarters in Sacramento. This position will work under the direction of the Assistant Deputy Director of Administration. The Accounting Administrator III serves as the Accounting Chief for California State Parks. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all accounting and related fiscal activities for the Department. This position assists with developing policy, establishing objectives, and sets forth guidelines to ensure the Department’s fiscal structure adheres to sound management practices and accounting principles. The incumbent’s primary responsibility is to provide managerial leadership to the fiscal and administrative areas of program operation to ensure management has access to needed data required for timely and informed decision making. Significant experience in Accounting practices and principles and related fiscal activities; managerial leadership; policy and procedure development and compliance; design and development of a fiscal reporting system; CALSTARS and various subsystems; and conformance with standards and timeliness established by statute, regulations, and control agency policy required.

1.Experience in managing difficult and complex fiscal issues within California state government
2.Experience in managing positions, human resources, progressive discipline process and training
3.Experience with fiscal year end closing process & financial statement preparation
4.Experience in communicating with internal and external customers
5.Experience in mentoring and developing staff, as well as implementing organizational change
