Job Description: Position: The Secretary of State’s office is seeking a highly motivated individual to work in the Information Technology Division, Application\Development Unit. Under the general supervision of the Senior Programmer Analyst (Supervisor), this incumbent will be responsible for maintaining existing legacy applications while leading and participating in projects to redevelop these applications in current technology. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to work in a dynamic computing environment. The Secretary of State (SOS) is located near the State Capitol with convenient light-rail access at our front door. Our agency is committed to staff development and will provide technical training and skill development assignments to help the individual grow and excel.
Duties: The incumbent will work with existing SOS staff to develop new and maintain existing business applications while conducting systems analysis and programming for redevelopment efforts. The incumbent will work closely with business customers to provide consulting and technical direction in systems analysis, systems design, program specifications and programming for new applications and enhancement of existing systems.
Qualifications: Experience in developing and maintaining mainframe business applications; ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical staff in both verbal and written form; ability to work independently; enthusiasm for a fast-paced environment with multiple challenging responsibilities; and working knowledge of Natural, ADABAS, COBOL, VSAM, CICS, and JCL is preferred. Knowledge/experience of Assembler and willingness and ability to learn new concepts and technologies, such as .NET and SQL server is beneficial.
