The reporting location for this position is Half Moon Bay Sector Office at 95 Kelly Avenue, Half Moon Bay. This position works under the supervision of the Sector Superintendent. The Supervising Ranger (LT) supervises 5 State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) positions and 2 State Park Peace Officer (Lifeguard) positions. The position supervises numerous seasonal employees, including Park Aids, Interpreters, and Lifeguards. This position works closely with a SSPPO in the Southern Operational Area, as well as with a Maintenance and a Resources supervisor. The Supervising Ranger LT also works with other District, and outside-agency Peace-Officer Supervisors, other public safety entities, and community groups. The large Northern Operational Area is comprised of numerous coastal units with annual visitation approaching 2 million. The units are varied, with a light station, a natural preserve, a campground, and busy day use beaches. Involvement in and supervision of day-to-day education and interpretive programs include: Junior Lifeguards, Junior Rangers, campfire programs, and volunteer management. The sector includes 3 active cooperating associations. A candidate with knowledge, skill, or ability in aquatics is desired.State housing is not available.
