This is a Limited Term Intermittent position and may work at a maximum of 1500 hours per calendar year. This position may become Permanent Intermittent in the future.
The Air Resources Board (ARB), referred to as 'The Board', is a dynamic and innovative leader in setting and implementing controls to protect and improve air quality for the citizens of California. The Board's scientific and technical programs rely extensively on web-based information systems.
The mission of the Office of Information Services (OIS) is to leverage the most effective information technologies available to achieve ARB's program goals.
The IT Operations and Support Branch (ITOSB) is responsible for the implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of the ARB's office automation computer systems and supporting infrastructure. ARB's network, desktop, telecom and enterprise systems support more than 1,525 users in Sacramento, El Monte and other remote sites. ITOSB provides desktop computers and printers, email/calendaring support, purchasing support, training, help desk support, and resource center support to all ARB staff. ITOSB also supports all ARB voice, video and data communications services, and manages ARB's network wiring infrastructure. In addition to these roles, ITOSB works closely with the OIS Systems Development Branch and Information Security Officer (ISO) to successfully and securely deliver mission-critical business applications and support services to ARB programs and external stakeholders.
The primary duties and responsibilities of the position includes Telecom and IT Procurement support to ARB end users. This includes interpreting, understanding, and responding to user inquiries and problems, troubleshooting, documenting solutions, teaming with other IT co-workers, and acting as a liaison between end users and OIS technical staff. Assists with a variety of IT Operational activities such as Level 1 IT Service Desk and OIS support. This position performs routine lifting of at least 50 lbs.
