Under general supervision of a Supervising Tax Auditor II, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and evaluating multiple tax programs for both the Internal Revenue service (IRS) and the BOE. The BTS I/II must pass an IRS background check to be an analyst on the Joint Operations Center (JOC) team. As part of the JOC, the incumbent is responsible for performing data analytics and data mining of multiple electronic data sets to identify anomalies and potential audit leads related to the nationwide fuel network. The BTS II is responsible for possessing the knowledge and skills in data mining and analysis consistent with the abilities of a Computer Audit Specialist at the BOE. The BTS I must possess the skills and abilities to develop the data analytical skills needed to perform at a BTS II level. As a liaison with the BOE, IRS and other JOC participating states, the incumbent must have the ability to develop good working relationships, as well as, provide training and assistance to our partners, taxpayers and fellow auditors.
The position requires up to 50% travel throughout the United States, including overnight. The position is located in a high-rise building. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
