Under direction from the Education Administrator I of the Quality Improvement Office and the Director of the Child Development Division (CDD) and working cooperatively with program units and managers throughout the California Department of Education (CDE), the incumbent is assigned responsibilities to work on Race to the Top-Early Learning Challenge (RTT-ELC) and its implementation and on various child care and development programs funded by federal and/or state funds. The Consultant works independently and serves in an educational leadership role in the development of professional development systems, products, publications, and quality improvements activities.
Diverse experiences in child care and development programs
Knowledge of current trends, research, and practices in child development
Ability and experience in communicating effectively, both in writing and verbally, in small and large group settings
Knowledge of how the child care system operates statewide
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with individuals and groups possessing varied backgrounds and perspectives relating to child care issues

This position’s tenure is limited-term and will be effective through December 31, 2015. Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
