Job Description:

Under general supervision, the Business Taxes Specialist I independently conducts the most difficult and complex audits, typically consisting of the largest industrial corporations; makes audit appointments; meets with taxpayers and their representatives; explains the audit findings; prepares appropriate audit reports, and performs other related duties as necessary. This position may be required to rotate into the audit review position.

Meeting the training requirements for this position may require overnight travel for up to five consecutive nights. This position is designated as 'mobile worker' per Board of Equalization Telework Policy and Guidelines. Candidate must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Supplemental Questionnaire: In addition to the Standard State Application (STD. 678), no more than a two-page typed response to the following questions must be submitted with your application.

1) A Business Tax Specialist I (BTS I) in a District Office must be able to apply specialized audit practices and procedures used in tax auditing, as well as, interpret and apply tax laws, rules and regulations. Please describe how your current or past job experience qualifies you for the position.

2) Describe your past sales and use tax audit experience as the lead auditor and/or as team member.

3) Describe your successes and challenges in expediting the completion of Sales and Use Tax audits of large companies.
