We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Information Technology (IT) Desktop Support Unit in San Diego. Under the general direction of the San Diego IT Desktop Services Unit Manager, a Data Processing Manager I, the Assistant Information Systems Analyst (Specialist) is responsible for analysis, installation, implementation, and support of information technology systems with a concentration in desktop support. IT systems include personal computers (pc), pc operating system software, application software, local area networking, internet and intranet configurations. This position will work closely with Network and Operations Services Units for the resolution of reported issues with Information Technology systems hardware, software applications, and networks. The incumbent provides basic technical support to computer users throughout the District who support Caltrans mission-critical projects. The person will also assign higher level support requests to second level technicians. The employee must have a broad understanding of current computer technology and must demonstrate organizational skills, commitment to excellence, and a desire for innovative solutions. Must work well in a team environment, but demonstrate personal responsibility for all work assignments. Additionally, must provide excellent customer service by acknowledging the value of all staff to the Department.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: General knowledge of computer hardware, software, printers, Internet and wireless technologies; IT best practices; Strong communications and troubleshooting skills desired.
