This is a two year limited term position which may become permanent if funding is approved and/or workload is permanently established. Under the general direction of the Chief Accounting Officer, the Accounting Administrator II is responsible for the effective administration, direction, and operation of a very critical, complex, and highly visible Section of the Accounting Branch. The Accounting Administrator II is responsible for administering and overseeing the activities of the Accounting Services Section operations. Duties include overseeing the statewide, automated travel expense reimbursement system (CalATERS) which includes participation in the pilot project which is replacing the current CalATERS system with a new system, overseeing the fiscal analysis and implementation of ever-changing complex travel reimbursement policies per State control agency directives and employee union agreements, and ensuring quality and professional customer contact with Board Members, managers, and employees while meeting their complicated travel needs and ensuring timely reimbursement of business travel expenses. Duties also include overseeing and reviewing the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external distribution to BOE management and State control agencies. The incumbent is the operational liaison with headquarters and field offices, the Budget Branch, the Human Resource Division, internal auditors, the Department of Personnel Administration, the Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board, the Department of General Services, the State Controller’s Office, the Bureau of State Audits and other State departments.
