The reporting location for this position is Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. This position will work under the direction of the Mountains Sector Superintendent. The incumbent will supervise the Visitor Services program at Henry Cowell near the town of Felton, in the San Lorenzo Valley, about six miles north of Santa Cruz. From helping manage and interpret old growth redwoods to overseeing a busy summer campground operation, this assignment offers a great opportunity for professional growth and career advancement. The assignment includes a wide range of daily responsibilities including supervising permanent and seasonal staff and volunteers, management a 112 site campground and overseeing 4,600 acres of diverse park land including the new Sand Hills acquisition and the scenic Fall Creek Unit. The incumbent will be charged with maintaining and enhancing a great working relationship with the public, staff, local law enforcement and EMS agencies, and Henry Cowell’s cooperating association. The District is looking for an energetic, innovative, and highly motivated individual with strong leadership and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work in a team oriented setting.
