Under general direction with little day-to-day supervision of the Business Taxes Administrator I, the Tax Technician (TT) III uses highly independent initiative and judgment in determining how to handle the more complicated and sensitive tax program area technical assignments including issuing billings, making account adjustments and processing refunds. Additionally, the TT III serves as an expert staff resource responsible for the most difficult and complex technical work that supports program functions and acts as a lead. Applies laws, rules and regulations as necessary when evaluating documents for distribution or file maintenance, preparing billings for fines resulting in civil or criminal citations, and refunding or adjusting accounts. Must attain a detailed knowledge of several data processing systems including the Automated Compliance Management System (ACMS) and the Integrated Revenue Information System (IRIS), in order to handle difficult adjustment and billing assignments. Must understand the complexity of all systems, rules and procedures in tax return processing. The position is located in a high-rise building. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
